How to win more of the quotes you send
Updated 11 Oct 2026 · FindPro
Getting enquiries is only half the job. Here is how to turn more of them into work.
Reply within the hour if you can
Customers usually contact several businesses and go with whoever responds properly first. Even a short reply ("Thanks, I can look at it Thursday morning, does that suit?") puts you ahead.
Ask the right questions
A few questions about the job, access, timing and budget show you know what you are doing, and stop you quoting for the wrong thing.
Visit when the job needs it
For anything beyond a simple repair, seeing the job lets you quote accurately and lets the customer meet you. People hire people they have met.
Put the quote in writing
- What is included and what is not
- Materials, and who supplies them
- Start date and how long it will take
- Payment terms, and how extras are agreed
- Whether VAT is included
Follow up once
If you have not heard back in three or four days, send one polite message. Many customers simply have not decided yet.
